The resources listed below offer a simple way to confirm whether a tire is included in a current recall.

TIRE BRAND & MODEL

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) offers an online search tool that lets you review tire recalls issued over roughly the past 15 years.By entering a tire’s brand or model, you can quickly see whether that product line has been involved in a safety-related recall.

TIRE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (TIN)

All tires sold in the U.S. have a Tire Identification Number (TIN) molded into the sidewall. The TIN always begins with “DOT,” with the full number on one side and a shortened version on the other.

The TIN shows the manufacturer, production site, tire size, and the week and year the tire was made. Since 2000, tires must include a four-digit date code for the week and year of manufacture.
